15 questions on ... Marliese Arold And again I have an author portrait for you.
The children and youth book author Marliese Arold was brave enough to face my 15 questions. Courageous because it certainly in their Writer's Life for so many interviews where has that they can not count the number.
has at least they have written so many books that one hardly meets with the counting. What else do they so powerful, she tells us here:
first Dear Marlyn, from which the eight-year career has Marliese dreaming? The eight-year Marliese was determined to one day becoming a writer.
second When did you discover the fun and joy of writing? very early. My mother told me before bed is often a story and if they had turned off the light, I told me the story again - but this time with myself in the lead role. When I came to school and could write, I began to write stories and poems.
third When you wrote your first book and what it was? At 12 I wrote my first crime novel. It was about drug and wild chases - and there were five deaths in history. I sent my text to a publisher at that time actually. I got it back of course (much to my disappointment!), But the editor encouraged me to continue, I would be determined later, once a good writer.
4th Can you still remember your first book published? What was the name it was and what it feel, think then finally in the hands? That was in 1983 and the first volume of my adventure series "ZM - Top Secret". The book was called "The secret of the old professor" and was about an inventor who has built a time machine and travels with three children along to the time of the dinosaurs. The book (it was published together with Volume 2 and 3) was first in the bookstore and I got only my documents. I still remember how I stood in the bookstore, the books touched and could not believe it, that was actually mine.
5th You have already written so many books that I have to count not more offspring. How many are there exactly? You know that? I've made a list, because otherwise I would have also lost track of long ago. Right now I have written 199 books.
6th What is for you personally, the biggest challenge in the development of a new book? When I design a book, then I have a type of vision of a whole - that mood, pace, characters, range ... in the preparation, I try to come close to this vision.
7th Where do you get ideas for your books? This may be an observation a dream, a word that starts me suddenly, a newspaper article ... Suddenly, the idea is there and it starts to tingle in my stomach. I have to write down the idea very quickly so I did not forget. Sometimes, the tingle is also available for the announcement of an idea. I know that now will be here a little, something in my mind. It's like it would hold a package in his hands and know that something is beautiful inside, but you still do not know what it is.
8th Your books have been translated into numerous languages. I believe in more than 20 What translation has you most happy? The translation of "ghost park" into English.
9th Is there a place where you are hosted prefer, you get the best ideas and maybe you can write best? The ideas can come anywhere. It is never safe from them ;-) Posted
is somewhere either with the Macbook on my knees, but usually work properly in the "big" Mac.
10th What is actually a normal working day with the author Marliese Arold? morning I need until I start working. As first a long time in Internet time is wasted, read mails and answered. I'm more of an afternoon evening and writer. If the deadline approaches, however, it will come off the morning with the disciplined writing.
11th You write so some very successful series. The best known are at the moment probably the Magic Girls . How did you get the idea for this series? The idea came about 10 years ago. I wanted to mix the subject of witches and friendship, but before I could prepare a presentation, gave the publisher, which I wanted to offer the series actually out another witch-friendly series. I had the idea that is first in the drawer and pulled it out again only when I considered what I write for Ars Edition could. The publisher was very enthusiastic about my idea and developed fairly early on a very cool cover concept. That the series would be so successful, so none of us expected. I had originally thought so in 4 volumes, currently I am writing to tape 8 and there is still no end in sight. I also have many many ideas about it. It's just great fun.
12th How long will it take from idea to finished book? This is different and depends on the topic and scope. For a Magic Girls Band I need about 6 weeks, for a thick book, like "The dolphins of Atlantis" 4-6 months. For a first tape reader might a week for a picture book for two or three days ...
13th If you have written as many books as you, you are indeed in the nursery already quite well known. Will you recognize on the street? Can you still go shopping undisturbed? Normally I would not approached in the street. At the Book Fair, it may be even more likely that somebody comes to me and says, "Are you Mrs. Arold?"
14th What projects are you working on? Which releases can fans look forward soon? work I'm currently at Magic Girls Band 8, which appears in the summer. Moreover, in autumn in my Oetinger 3. Delfin novel out, "The Legacy of Atlantis. There is also the fall fishing at Treasure Island a sequel to "Ella Vampirella". As for the letter, so this year I have plenty of nice projects ahead of me. A funny horror novel, which I'm pretty excited. And a new series for slightly older (because I can not tell anything!).
15th What advice would you give to young people who like writing or even dream of becoming a writer? read a lot, write a lot and have lots of patience. Writing is a constant learning process. Even I'm still learning something.
