André Marx
All fans of the series "The three?" today are familiar with my interview partners.
When I asked Andrew if he wanted to make my 15 questions, I am so excited about his commitment. And was then promptly before a problem. To prepare
my interview questions, I try of course First, my "victims" know a little more detail. But - how can you find out about an author who writes a blog or even on Twitter or Facebook is active, so the do not even have a home page. After all, there are
a Wikipedia entry about André, so I can at least tell you that he is a German author, was born near Osnabrück and now lives in Berlin. ;-)
The rest we ask him best yourself
first Hello André. First, the mandatory Question on getting warm:
Which profession has actually dreamed of the eight years of André?
Whether you believe it or not: The eight-year-old Andre wanted to be a writer and has worked diligently to already. There was never really an option for him, what his parents initially fun, then later found very worrying. But small-André remained undeterred and decided at 13 that he would have published his first novel at 18. This has then were cut not quite, but the belief that this will happen sooner or later, was unwavering. In this memory, the cerebrum and the cerebellum of the adult André have at least agreed.
second When and how did you three? met?
my five years older brother was given a radio play, the then fairly quickly passed into my possession. That must have been the late seventies, I was around six years old. Later, he read the books, and when I finally was able to read books of this scope, am I then entered as well. I must admit though, my heart suggested as much if not more so, for the five friends and frightening stone castle.
third And how did it come now to the fact that you became an author himself for this famous series?
"Now" is well put, it's now been 15 years since ... ;-)
I asked myself one day if it really still is the series, was in a bookstore and discovered that it was not only very much alive, but also then continued by a German author was. This irritated me because the books from my childhood after all translations from American goods. So I wrote a letter to the publisher and asked for.
I was told that the series in the U.S. for lack of success a few years earlier set. The German publisher, who wanted no compromise in the series, but had acquired the license to continue writing. I decided to travel that I can too, wrote my first three? Case and sent it to the editor. The latter was not surprised, but as luck would have it, you were just looking for an author, and after some back and forth I was there.

4th How many three? Books have you written now?
date, there were 27 volumes, including two trilogies, so strictly speaking, 31 bands, distributed to 27 stories.
5th Where do you take after so many volumes have new ideas? And the three? Authors communicate to each other about their ideas from? Do you know you at all personally?
times I answer back: Meanwhile, we know all of us personally. That was not at the very beginning have that, but over time through book fairs and other events are continually arising opportunities to cross paths. Exchange, there are sometimes at a personal level, if one knows or is looking a little better once the advice of a colleague. But the official agreements as to the choice of topics to be covered in the books, running from the publisher. Since then it can ever read: ". please do not write about an art theft, the XY makes already for next fall," Last
Question: Where do I get new ideas? Not at all. I have in four years not three? book written more. And this is partly due to know regarding "three guys from California to solve a case of" think of anything new.
6th The three? indeed have a huge following. Many, many children, but I think it is almost more adult fans with the adventures of Justin, Peter and Bob grew up and they are still true today. Whom have you in mind when writing? The juvenile or the adult audience? Who do you write?
for me. Eleven year or for me. Of course I have to include the adult fans in mind and try their expectations. But the three? remain a number of children and young people. If an eleven year old can do with the story no longer know what went wrong. I also believe that the adult fans would not be more satisfied if they would get to read adult stories. You do not read children's books, otherwise they would not after the three? . Access
7th Besides the three? Books, you still have a very successful children's book series together with your colleagues Boris Pfeiffer developed: The Wild Pack.
Do you see yourself more as a series writer, or would you like to do once a really fat songs?
I would also like to play a single title. But once I have a story to the winding and you work out in my head, I end up sooner or later, at least in a trilogy or equal to a whole series. I just can not be brief.
8th Once the Wild Pack: How do you have to practice writing with a co-author ? Imagine One thinks of the other guides or how you do it?
We think and draw both equally. We have come up with the figures at that time, the setting and the great story arc together and then started writing. Running ever since this: For every new band is getting together and talking one day about the story. Then start at one and writes the first twenty or thirty pages. The second reading this page correction, changes all that he does not like (and content), is the turn of the next two pages and send them back. In this way, is the number of manuscripts Times back and forth until it is finally completed in a version that we like both. To equal anticipate the next question: No, we do not always agree. But then just talk to each other for so long until one convinces the other, or at least persuaded added. Or do we agree on a compromise.
9th Is there a place where you are hosted prefer, you get the best ideas and maybe you can write best?
Nope. I write quite boring at my desk, and I have ideas everywhere and nowhere. I like to keep myself on the cinema, but as it writes, of course, rather bad. The classics, namely the sunny terrace from which one has a view of the sparkling sea, I have also already tried, but it can only recommend limited. Nothing against the sunny terrace, but for sheer atmosphere it actually comes to nothing. I think writing requires a certain austerity, at least for me.
10th What is actually a normal working day with the author André Marx?
very boring: After breakfast I set myself with the first cup of coffee at the desk. The first hour is spent on email and the Internet. Then I turn off my wireless box to not constantly tempted and start to work. I do, then, depending on daytime and needs between three and eight hours, all depends on it. On revisions I can sit longer. When writing an entirely new text is to end no later than five hours. In most cases, running to music, but nothing with vocals that tear me out.
11th If one looks on the net something about you, find mainly information of the three?. you have the feeling of being reduced as a writer on this one number and could not be taken seriously?
reduce I out a bit, but seriously I feel anyway, even with the other things I've done as simply "The Wild Pack", plays or editing work. Of those containing many people do not, but it can not everything be as successful as the Three Investigators.
12th There is no homepage of André Marx. Why not?
Because I'm too lazy to take care of a home. And I would not know what to stand there at all. If one looks a little bit, you find really been all about me and my books on the net, which is kind of relevant. Why then have your own homepage? Reason number three: I'm a bit afraid of mail from strangers.
13: Is there something you want to convey in your books or do you want "just" talk?
A Difficult question ... History is not a vacuum, they inevitably touch on issues of human life, where I go for some entertainment needs, and it was only the way in which two characters interact. I will "give" this decision does not necessarily do it but anyway. Even with the election of my material I teach, which seems to me worth telling. So, let's say this: I have never written to convey a "message". But only because I wanted to tell a story. Who but it still takes a message, he / she like to keep and show to friends, or even to me. Maybe I even not seen.
14th What projects are you working on? Which releases can fans look forward soon?
Boris and I have just finished the last volume of "The Wild Pack". Now a bit of revision and fine tuning, but is by and large it was this the book will be released but only in about a year, until then is so worried for new releases. What comes next for me, I do not know. And I'm delighted, it is not too Know because the last 15 years I was always involved in any series. That is no longer the case. There are some vague and some more concrete ideas, but I would like to surprise me like this, as I have next week at the most pleasure. And I will do then.
15th Today, if a fairy in front of you would and you had three wishes free. What would they be?
I'm assuming you mean apart from so boring things that everyone wants, something like world peace, end to environmental destruction and a cure for cancer? Hm ... so very selfish I would like to make it invisible. And can fly would not be bad. Or stop time. Or positive change. So, I think I would choose me from the many classic superhero abilities two and save me the third wish for later, when I really need time.
Thank you for your time and have fun writing!
Thanks same to you!
