Once a year I repeat this action and collect among our colleagues and friends (new) children's books for Sternbrücke .
This year I made it for the first time, bring the books into two huge suitcases in person to the children's hospice in Hamburg. Fortunately, there are daily from Hanau an ICE, which runs through to Hamburg - at 6:00 in the morning!
In Hamburg, I took a taxi to get to the hotel by bus or train, I had the books case alone can not move. An elderly taxi driver wanted to drive me and wanted to be sure the bags still carry one of the hotel stairs because there was a storm so terrible and it rained. The good man moaned and groaned all nice and asked me if I was with a collection of rocks on the road.
Together with fellow Gabriele Gfrerer and Kari Erlhoff I went on Friday afternoon, in pouring rain on the way towards the children's hospice. Gabi and I were really glad that we could pick up Kari with the car at the hotel. So the books were then still quite dry.
In the star bridge, we were received by Mrs Schiiddekopf very affectionate with coffee and cookies and then we have only spoken once almost 2 hours only. Through our work as a children's book authors, but especially on working in a children's hospice, on the handling of employees with dying children and their parents and families about the children Many many questions themselves have moved us and we could really make all.
I think that all three of us was more than impressed by the great warmth and love that gives the house and the wonderful work being done there.
With our books, we can contribute only a tiny part of what is really needed in a children's hospice. Nevertheless
was greeted joyfully unpack every book. Even if the young patients themselves often are not able to read or look at pictures, so many still like to hear from them or simply enjoy while reading the voice that they hear. Moreover romp but also always plenty of siblings in the Star Bridge, so we are sure that our children's books will be read.

Our prudent question is whether we can also leave some thrillers for children and adolescents has been answered :
